  1. Roopkund Trek, Uttarakhand
  • Altitude- 16,499 ft
  • Best time to Visit- From May to October month
  • Difficulty level- Moderate

The Roopkund Trek starts from Lohajung and leads you to a lake named Roopkund. This lake is known for skeletal remains of humans that were found at its bottom. You have to cover a distance of 53 km, in a period of 7 to 9 days. You make your way through jungles while listening to the sweet melody of the river flowing. Throughout the trek, you will spot Hindu temples, Himalayan peaks such as Nanda Devi and Nanda Ghunti, rare bird species, and green plains. This trek takes you and lets you witness all the beautiful wonders of nature. 


  1. Bhrigu Lake trek
  • Altitude- 14,100 ft. 
  • Best time to visit- From May to October
  • Difficulty level- Moderate

You can reach the Maharishi Bhrigu trek from the Vashishth Temple. The trail has steep narrow ascents and huge rocks of snow, which might make it a little difficult for beginners.   • Best time to visit- Pre-monsoon season and Post monsoon season, the months being May-June and September-October.

Kareri Lake trek is worth the visit. It is known to be one of the highest altitude lakes in the Indian Himalayan region. The lake is formed by the flow of melted waters of the Mankiani Peak. The lake is the base from where one goes further towards the Dhauladhar range and Minkani Pass. The trek passes take you along streams and lush green meadows giving a mesmerizing view. The lake originates from Mcleodganj town and leads you to Kareri village, and takes you through some amazing places along the way. This has always been there on the top of the trekker’s list. 


  1. Tso Lhamo Lake trek
  • Altitude- 17,998 ft
  • Best time to visit- Post monsoon is considered the best, which is from October to November. 
  • Difficulty level- Moderate

The Tso Lhamo is also known as Che o-Lamu is the highest lake in India and is the fourteenth highest altitude lake in the world. It is located in North Sikkim, it offers great ambiance and fills the air with a sense of isolation and peace. The captivating and sparkling water and a variety of bird species adds a whole different element of vibrance to the environment. One can not fall for such rare scenic beauty.
